Alex and April: New Orleans Engagement Photography

New Orleans Engagement Photography

Alex and April celebrate a Surprise Proposal with A French QUarter Engagement Session.

Alex and April’s engagement session was a bit of a surprise for April. I frequently do engagement sessions immediately following Surprise Proposals. But in Alex’s case, he wasn’t sure exactly when he was going to propose and wanted to be able to play it ear rather than nailing down a specific time and location. So he hired me for a surprise celebratory Engagement shoot the next day instead!

We met in the French Quarter and got on famously from the jump. I always have a great time during New Orleans couples photography sessions. But some couples just really click with my particular flavor of antics. Alex and April were definitely one of those couples. We cruised around the Lower French quarter for a little while, taking advantage of Mardi Gras decorations in a few shots. We didn’t really have a Mardi Gras this year (thanks, Covid!) but people still decorated. It’s pretty hard to kill the carnival spirit in New Orleans!

We had such a good time together that I’m pretty sure they decided they wanted to hire me for their wedding before we took the last photo. I’m getting to photograph that wedding next month at the House of Blues! Since most of my Surprise Proposal couples are from out of town, I don’t normally get to photograph their wedding too. I’m really excited I get to work with this great couple again! It’s been months since I took these images but better late than never, right?
